Epsilon Omega Chapter (Miami-Florida)
After overcoming quite a few obstacles along the way, including Hurricane Andrew and a challenging spring rush, Epsilon Omega Chapter was installed at the University of Miami in Miami, Florida, on April 17, 1993. Epsilon Omega Chapter was closed on July 1, 1998.
The afternoon Initiation ceremony performed by Delta Sigma Chapter (Florida Institute of Technology) was followed by the Installation banquet at the Biscayne Bay Marriott Hotel. Collegiate Vice President Linda Daniel Johnson (Vanderbilt) presented the charter to Chapter President Rochelle Rubin. Director of Extension Linda Lyons Malony (Southern California) was the Mistress of Ceremonies.
"We overcame a few obstacles along the way," Linda said, acknowledging the hard work of many organizations and individuals since Gamma Phi Beta first made its presentation to the University of Miami Panhellenic council in 1991.
Also representing International Gamma Phi Beta at the banquet was International Ritual Chairman Audrey Weldon Shafer (Missouri), New Chapter Director Joanne Shaffer Meloro (Rutgers), Province Alumnae Director Nancy Donovan Montgomery (Bowling Green), International Rush Consultant Laura Hatch (Colorado) and Stephanie Duncan (Indiana State) and Theresa Hanlon (Boston), collegiate leadership consultants.
International officers recapped the highlights of the colony's first semester on campus, which included presenting a rendition of "Cinderella " for the Panhellenic Pledges on Parade skits; winning the coveted Spirit Trophy in their first homecoming competition; achieving the highest pledge class grade point average on campus; participating in Sigma Chi Derby Days; executing the University's largest and most successful spring rush; and an award-winning showing in Greek Week and Greek Sing.
"Working with these women has been an absolute joy," said Stephanie Duncan (Indiana State) and Theresa Hanlon (Boston).
