OUR SIGNATURE PHILANTHROPY EVENT: MOONBALL
Moonball is Gamma Phi Beta’s signature philanthropy event, where collegiate chapters across North America host a kickball, volleyball or basketball tournament each academic year to raise funds for our philanthropic partner, Girls on the Run. Moonball provides a healthy activity for participants, while allowing our members to serve as mentors and leaders in their communities.
Use our chapter locator to reach out to a nearby collegiate chapter to find out how you can participate, volunteer or donate through Moonball!

Volunteer Opportunities
- Interested in volunteering within your community? There are many ways to volunteer with Gamma Phi Beta’s philanthropic partner and continue to Build Strong Girls! Use the Girls on the Run Local Council Finder to connect locally with the GOTR council nearest you.
- Become a coach or assistant coach and inspire a group of girls through their easy-to-follow curriculum over the course of 10-12 weeks. You do not have to run to be a coach, just an awesome role model! Ready, set, coach!
- Lace up your sneakers and become a running buddy. Paired with a special girl, you have the opportunity to run a 5k by her side while providing the encouragement she needs to cross the finish line. This is a powerful role!
- Become a 5k race crew member. Help with hydration stations, the happy hair station and more at a Girls on the Run 5k.

Mission Movers
A Mission Mover is a Gamma Phi Beta who completes the online portion of Girl on the Run's National Coach Training (NCT). Following the completion, a Mission Mover is invited to take the in-person portion of National Coach Training with their local council to complete their training and become a certified Girls on the Run Coach.
Why should you become a Mission Mover?
- If you’re interested in becoming a GOTR coach, this training is the first step.
- If you’re not interested in coaching, Mission Movers is great for those who crave a richer understanding of Girls on the Run, want to learn foundational coaching and youth development skills and techniques or are seeking continuing education credit.
Girls on the Run’s NCT offers a dynamic, research-based online learning experience that equips learners with essential skills in youth development, social-emotional learning, and inclusive coaching practices. This flexible, self-paced training is designed to meet adult learners where they are, blending reflection, real-life scenarios, and practical strategies.
NCT helps coaches create safe, supportive, and empowering environments for youth, building positive relationships, fostering autonomy, and supporting diverse young people. Participants will gain valuable tools that apply both on and off the field, preparing them to make a meaningful difference within Girls on the Run or in any youth setting.
What’s in it for you?
- Gain skills in coaching, youth development, and creating an inclusive, supportive environment
- Learn strategies for building positive relationships and fostering personal growth in youth
- Walk away with practical tools that can be applied to various coaching and mentoring roles
