2010: REAL Relationships and REAL Wellness
Two more new programs were launched toward the end of 2010: Rock Solid Relationships and Gamma Phi Beta’s signature Safety & Wellness program (these programs are now called REAL Relationships and REAL Wellness).
The Rock Solid Relationships program was developed to inspire members — and give them the tools — to build lifelong bonds. The Big Sister/Little Sister relationship was a long-running tradition in Gamma Phi Beta and most sororities. Now, however, they had guidelines and expectations to make those relationships more meaningful, more productive and longer lasting. In addition, the relationship-building skills they learned to apply to their sorority relationships would also assist them in mentoring girls through our philanthropic mission and on into their careers.

The new Safety & Wellness program was launched through an eight-page spread in the winter 2010 edition of The Crescent. The articles included tips from wellness experts in five key areas: diet, exercise, checkups, smoking cessation and stress management. Other topics included skin cancer prevention and cervical cancer screening. Besides being a highly proactive approach to risk management, the Safety & Wellness program was an excellent expression of the Sorority’s Core Values. Collegiate chapters added the position Safety & Wellness chairwoman to their structure. Working closely with the Education department, her responsibilities for securing the well-being of her sisters included the promotion of physical and mental health, campus safety and interdependent care and concern among chapter members.
