Board Leadership
Board Leadership is a collection of standalone virtual educational sessions designed for Gamma Phi Beta alumnae seeking to understand board-level leadership. Some sessions are pre-recorded modules with guided learning, while others are live, virtual sessions. Through discussion, self-guided learning and reflection, Board Leadership attendees will explore board-level responsibilities and cultivate individual preparedness for board-level service.

Recorded Webinar: Board Leadership: Elected Service
Have you ever wanted a behind the scenes look at the work of slating Gamma Phi Beta’s elected leaders? This session is for you! This 2-hour recorded session will provide you with an in-depth look at the work of the Nominating Committee. The Nominating Committee is tasked with identifying, recruiting and slating potential candidates for election to the Nominating Committee and International Council. This session is a great fit for sisters interested both in learning more about the work of the Nominating Committee as well as the process for expressing interest in elected service. This session will also explore performance and commitment expectations for elected service in Gamma Phi Beta.
On-Demand Training: Board Leadership: Fundamentals
What do we mean when we say “board leadership?” How do you know if board leadership is right for you? What exactly does board leadership look like in Gamma Phi Beta? We’ll answer these questions and more in this on-demand training designed to help you gain foundational knowledge and skills about board-skill development.
On-Demand Training: Board Leadership: Member Competencies
All Gamma Phi Betas are supported in their learning and growth in alignment with the Sorority’s Member Competency framework. This includes growing at the highest levels of leadership. In this on demand training, you’ll learn more about the Member Competency framework, how this framework supports board-level development and how you can advance in your Member Competency skills.
Is Board Leadership right for me?
All Gamma Phi Beta alumnae who have participated in one or more volunteer opportunities within the Sorority and are interested to learn about board-level service are invited to participate in Board Leadership. Future board leadership sessions will cover such topics as core responsibilities of a board, Gamma Phi Beta’s member competencies, board and committee leadership in Gamma Phi Beta and more. What preparation will participants need to do in advance?
On-demand sessions: To prepare for successful participation in Board Leadership sessions, interested participants should consider the following best practices for engaging in an on-demand educational session:
- Play, pause and rewind the recording as needed to record notes, participate in activities and review content.
- Engage with the session in a preferred learning space that allows you to focus on learning.
- Find a preferred note- taking resource to help you record session learning in a central location.
Live sessions: To prepare for successful participation in Board Leadership sessions, interested participants should consider the following best practices for engaging in a live virtual educational session:
- Download the most up-to-date version of Zoom to your preferred device.
- Identify a location with a stable Wi-Fi connection to engage in the session.
- Locate a charging cord and power source for your device.
- Utilize headphones and/or find a quiet space to participate in the session.
- Save the registration confirmation link to an easy-access location so you’re prepared to join the session.
- Brush up on your Zoom skills.
