Convention 1948: St. Louis, Missouri
Gamma Phi Beta was due to celebrate its 75th anniversary in 1949, but instead of waiting, the Sorority celebrated its Diamond Jubilee Convention in advance of the anniversary at the 43rd Convention held at the Jefferson Hotel in St. Louis, Missouri, June 29-July 2, 1948.
At this Convention Harriet Ross Wilcutt (Boston, 1901) serving as standards chairwoman delivered an address entitled “Our Creed,” distributing copies of the new Creed to everyone in attendance. It was adopted and Gamma Phi Beta’s Core Values of Love, Labor, Learning and Loyalty were derived from its lines.
