Convention 1892: Madison, Wisconsin
November 16, 1892, the tenth annual Convention was held in Madison, Wisconsin, at the Gamma Chapter (Wisconsin-Madison) hall. This Convention saw the first charter granted to an alumnae chapter, which was given to Chicago alumnae. Charters for alumnae groups in Syracuse and Boston followed close behind. The Convention ruled that alumnae chapters could be located wherever interest existed but most of the earliest were located in areas near collegiate chapters.
