The Gamma Phi Beta 150th Anniversary Oral History Project
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
Every Gamma Phi Beta has a story, and our sisterhood wants to hear yours!
As we prepare to celebrate our sesquicentennial, we are embarking on a new endeavor, The Gamma Phi Beta 150th Anniversary Oral History Project, to collect the stories of alumnae in their own words. These stories will be preserved in a book that celebrates the impact Gamma Phi Beta has had on your life and who you are today.
As part of this project, we want to learn more about our alumnae and make it easier for you to stay connected to Gamma Phi Beta. We’ve partnered with industry leader PCI (also known as Publishing Concepts) to help us collect updated contact information from members who have moved, switched email addresses or landed a new job.
So, what story will you share? A memory with a lifelong sister? Did a sister have a profound impact on your life? Can you trace your career path back to a defining moment in Gamma Phi Beta — at an event, or in a role you served in? Were you in Gamma Phi Beta during a historical moment?
Whatever your story is, we can’t wait to hear from you!
ABOUT PCI
Telling the stories of our Gamma Phi Beta alumnae is a large project, so we could not do it alone. By partnering with PCI, we can work with their trained staff of real, live people who are excited to listen to your story. PCI will collect and assemble the stories into a Gamma Phi Beta Oral History book just in time for our 150th Celebration. Please note: We have only shared your contact information with PCI in conjunction with this project. We have not sold your contact information or used it for outside marketing purposes.

It’s legit! To commemorate our 150th anniversary, we have partnered with PCI (also known as Publishing Concepts) to produce an Oral History Project for Gamma Phi Beta. PCI is a family-owned business based in Dallas, Texas, that has published directories for educational institutions, fraternities, sororities and military organizations across the nation for more than 100 years. This project allows Gamma Phi Beta to hear about your personal experiences and explain how the Sorority has helped shape your life.
Yes, in a few different ways:
1. Updated information — allows us to effectively communicate with and engage alumnae.
2. Legacy — preserves the history of our organization.
3. Revenue — generates alumnae dues revenue and merchandise revenue.*
4. Pride — wearing apparel shows support and love for our organization.
*100% of alumnae dues revenue comes back to Gamma Phi Beta. We earn 9.5% of the proceeds from all merchandise sales and $5 from every book purchased, with a mimimum earning of $50,000 from book sales.
PCI is committed to protecting your information. The names, addresses and information provided to PCI for the publication of the Oral History Project will be held confidential by PCI, except to the extent that they are utilized in, or in the preparation of, the Oral History Project and except as required by court order or law. Upon completion of the project, PCI will redact PII (Personal Identifiable information) from all electronic files that we have supplied or were produced by PCI in connection with the production of the Oral History Project.
If you received a postcard or an email with a telephone number, you may call the number to speak with a dedicated representative for the Oral History Project. The representative will verify all the information we have on file for you, make any updates where needed, then ask you to share your story about your time with Gamma Phi Beta. Your story will be recorded and provided to Gamma Phi Beta at the conclusion of the project.
If you have received an email with an embedded link, you may go to the online site to review your information and submit a story.
Although advances in technology allow us to share information online in seconds, this project uses phone calls so you can speak to a real person and ensure your information is correct. The PCI staff member may ask you follow-up or clarifying questions that an online system would not allow.
No. This project is being done at no cost. The project is completely funded by the Gamma Phi Beta members who choose to purchase the Oral History book that will be produced at the end of the project. Various book packages will be offered. PCI will also offer you the option to purchase other Gamma Phi Beta branded merchandise. You are welcome to purchase these items, but you are not required to do so to participate in the project or order the Oral History book. Again, we’d never be able to embark on a project like this without the support of our amazing members and partnership with PCI. We sincerely thank every person that participates and chooses to purchase the book.

When you call PCI, you will speak to one of their staff members. By coincidence, you may speak to a Gamma Phi Beta who is also a staff member of PCI, but you will not be speaking to a Gamma Phi Beta staff member when you call PCI.

- Why did you choose Gamma Phi Beta? What inspired you to join?
- Tell me about your time in Gamma Phi Beta. In what ways did it add to your overall college experience?
- I know you must have anticipated that joining would mean years of fun, but were you surprised by the depths of the friendships you created?
- How did Gamma Phi Beta help you grow or change as a person?
- What would you say is your greatest takeaway from your time with Gamma Phi Beta?
