Melissa Marshall Lutz (Oklahoma)

Did you hold any leadership positions within your collegiate chapter or Alumnae chapter (if applicable)?
I was Recording Secretary while I was at Psi. I got my degree in Organizational Communications. I'm very proud of the fact that I was a CLC from 1997-98 working specifically with the Membership Department. I'm still close with some of these amazing women I worked with. Why is supporting the Gamma Phi Beta Foundation meaningful to you?
Supporting the Gamma Phi Beta Foundation is meaningful to me because it allows me to give back to an organization that shaped my confidence, leadership, and sense of belonging. The Foundation's programs helped me grow during some of the most formative years of my life, and contributing ensures that future members have access to the same support, opportunities, and sisterhood that. made such an impact on me.

How do you hope your giving will make a difference for our members and sisterhood?
I've been impressed with Gamma Phi's growth to stay relevant and meet our members’ needs. I participated in one of the first BEDI summits and I truly feel that focusing on Belonging, Equity and Inclusion help strengthen our organization for the next generation.

What would you say to members who are considering donating to the Foundation, even if it’s a small amount?
Our sisterhood is a lifetime commitment. As with everything, we can serve in different ways throughout the years. Giving to the Foundation is one way to stay connected.

What inspired you to become a Crescent Society donor?
This year I turned 50 and my lifelong best friends are my Gamma Phi Sisters. I felt I was now at a time and place in my life that giving back is more important than ever.
