Eta Theta Chapter (Connecticut)

Eta Theta Chapter was installed at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Connecticut, on November 17, 2012.

The University of Connecticut colony welcomed 109 new members during Bid Day on September 21, 2012. On September 24, 2012, the colony had its first meeting. On October 6, 2012, members gathered for their first sisterhood retreat. Collegiate Leadership Consultant Valerie Hall (Oklahoma) said of the retreat, “We did exercises on social media, set colony goals and played sisterhood-building games.” She added, “Following the retreat, the colony marched in the Homecoming Parade together and sang newly learned Gamma Phi Beta chants and cheers.” On November 7, 2012, members went roller skating and put together puzzles that revealed their Twin Sister in the colony. With colonies, members are paired with a Twin Sister instead of a Big Sister because there are no new member classes ahead of them.

November 17, 2012, was Installation and Initiation. Colleen McGillivray (Connecticut) said after Initiation, “My sisters are kind, intelligent and resilient women, and I know our sisterhood will undoubtedly extend beyond our college years. Gamma Phi Beta has challenged me to become the best woman I can be, and each day, I am inspired by its legacy. I am honored to be a member of Eta Theta’s charter class and a part of the future of this exemplary organization.”
