Government Relations

Each April, as part of the Fraternity Government Relations Coalition (FGRC), fraternity and sorority members travel to Washington, D.C., to lobby and advocate for issues important to the Greek community, such as improving safety in not-for-profit housing, maintaining college affordability and eliminating hazing.

Resources and Initiatives

Fraternity and Sorority Political Action Committee

For the past few years, fraternity and sorority leaders have been working together to build a positive presence in Washington, D.C., that helps to protect the fraternal experience we offer our members. A logical extension of those efforts is the Fraternity and Sorority Political Action Committee (FSPAC), which seeks to provide financial aid to the campaigns of federal office candidates (House, Senate and President) who support the objectives of fraternity life. Formed on March 1, 2005, the FSPAC enables Greeks to work together to visibly support our brothers and sisters in Congress and those who champion Greek issues. Click here to learn more.

The Collegiate Housing and Infrastructure Act (CHIA)
Gamma Phi Beta is proud to collaborate with other national fraternities and sororities to encourage Congress to pass legislation to facilitate tax-deductible contributions for chapter housing infrastructure improvement.

The Collegiate Housing and Infrastructure Act (CHIA) is proposed legislation that would make a simple change in the tax code. This change would go a long way in improving the condition and safety of Greek student housing facilities. Specifically, the bill would allow tax-deductible charitable contributions made to Greek educational foundations to be used for infrastructure improvements and the installation of fire detection and prevention systems in local not-for-profit student housing.
