Helpful Attire Tips

- Memorial Service and Initiation: white ritual attire is required for these events. Solid white/off white dress, skirt/blouse or pantsuit and your badge; dresses should have a tasteful neckline and hem (no midriffs or strapless); neutral shoes. - Confirmed Conventioneers Dinner: wear your favorite Gamma Phi Beta clothing and/or western wear for this fun and casual dining experience; hats provided. Arriving at the Hotel
- Check in at the hotel lobby to receive your room keys. Bellman tips are not included in the registration fee so please tip accordingly ($1-$2/bag).
- Check in at the Convention Registration area in the Landmark Foyer to receive your tote bag with the Convention schedule of events. Take some time to review the materials so you will be better prepared for the exciting week ahead. Lines will be organized by the first letter of your last name.
- Delegates are required to check in at the Credentials Table upon arrival, which will be located in the Landmark Circle.
- Collegiate delegates should prepare to arrive at the hotel in time for the Flag Processional Practice at 4:30 p.m. in Landmark AB.
- Pick-up your Convention ribbons at the self-serve table available in the Landmark Circle. Ribbons are first-come, first-served.
- Please see the Convention Help Desk, located in the Landmark Circle, if you have any special needs or concerns.
- Don’t forget to select a seat for the Pink Carnation Banquet in the Landmark Circle. All seats must be selected by Friday at 6:30 p.m. or you will be assigned a seat.
- Be sure to stop in the Foundation room in Pegasus A to check out the beautiful opportunity drawing items.
- Don’t miss out on visiting Crescent Corner, located in Pegasus B. If you pre-ordered a Convention t-shirt, you can pick it up here by providing your name and photo identification. If you didn’t pre-order a Convention t-shirt, don’t miss out on purchasing some new Gamma Phi Beta gear while you’re in Dallas!
- Be on time – Convention runs on a tight schedule. You’ll be amazed at how much we accomplish in just three days!
- To make the most of your Convention experience, try to meet at least one new person at each event. There will be more than 900 sisters who would love to meet you.
- Be respectful and listen closely whenever anyone is at the microphone or you might miss valuable information or announcements.
Business Sessions (Wednesday-Saturday)
- All collegiate delegates in good standing sit in chapter Greek alphabetical order near the front of the room and alumnae chapter delegates in good standing in state order. All other members sit behind the delegate section.
- Only delegates can bring a motion to the floor or vote, but any member can be recognized to voice her opinion during discussion.
- Please remember that food items are not allowed in the Business Session. Water will be provided, and quiet consumption of other beverages is permitted.
- Electronic devices such as Smartphones and iPads may be used solely for note taking and viewing materials related to Convention Business Sessions. Other uses of electronic devices, including phone calls, email, texting, recording or viewing materials other than those relating to Convention Business Sessions are prohibited and are grounds for dismissal from the Business Session room. Electronic devices must be set on "silent" mode. This rule may be adjusted if devices are needed for voting. You must wear your badge (pin) to be admitted.
Welcome Dinner (Wednesday Evening)
- Don’t miss out on this fun Welcome Dinner event. This meal sets the tone for the week and always includes fun local flair represented in the food, décor and entertainment.
- Our Convention arrangements chairwoman will welcome us to Dallas and prepare us for the week ahead.
- Seating is open.
Coffee and Conversations (Thursday and Saturday mornings)
- This is not a formal breakfast event and is optional to all attendees. Coffee, juice, pastries and fruit will be provided. Please note that if you require a larger morning meal, the hotel has other options available to you at your leisure.
- Use this time to connect with old friends or seek out other women to discuss sorority matters important to you. This is your time to connect with your sisterhood.
- Seating is open.
Interfraternal Luncheon (Thursday afternoon)
- Join us for a luncheon to honor our interfraternal relationships and explore the power of Panhellenic.

Foundation Programming (Thursday afternoon)

Join the Gamma Phi Beta Foundation for a fun and interactive session where we will take you on a journey through the Foundation’s mission and purpose, how we support Gamma Phi Beta and her members and what we are currently doing to impact your membership experience, now and in the future. The Foundation exists because of you and for you!
Breakout Sessions (Thursday and Friday afternoon)
You will pre-select two sessions.
These programs are intended to showcase the many successful initiatives and programs that Gamma Phi Beta is implementing to move Gamma Phi Beta into the future. Each attendee should select two sessions to attend.
- Values that Last a Lifetime (Thursday only)
Now and forever Gamma Phi Beta’s Core Values can be a guiding force throughout your lifetime. Using research, experience and self-awareness, discover how Love, Labor, Learning and Loyalty play a role in your life, today and every day.
- “Don’t Stop Believing” (Thursday only; Collegiate Chapter Presidents only)
Congrats! You’ve reached the half way point of your term as chapter president. Regardless of how you are feeling, you have probably accomplished more than you realize. Join us in revisiting the vision you created at REAL Leadership Academy and reigniting your excitement before returning to campus this fall.
- The Advising Philosophy: Taking your Advising to New Heights (Thursday only; Recommended for Advisors or Advisory Board members)
Now that you’ve had time to practice the advising philosophy since REAL Leadership Academy, we will revisit the philosophy during this session to help you think more deeply about how you can take your advising to new heights.
- History of Gamma Phi Beta: What Our Past Has Taught Us About Starting Movements
Gamma Phi Beta has many strong members who have helped start movements within the Sorority and their communities. By exploring some of these members’ lives and the lessons learned from their work, participants will examine how they can start movements in their own communities.
- Leadership: A Practice in Confidence and Resiliency
Change, whether big or small, is the work of all leaders. The process of leading change can be challenging and, so it is also the work of leaders to prepare those they lead to be successful through the challenges. This session will dig into the connection between leadership, building self-confidence and empowering others to persist.
- Strong Women Building Strong Girls
Building Strong Girls is more than just a tagline, it’s a movement. Make a personal connection to Gamma Phi Beta’s philanthropic focus and learn how you can make a difference in girls’ lives today, tomorrow and in the future.
- Innovation through Collaboration
As organizations grow and evolve, they need a variety of viewpoints and experiences to help them innovate. This program will explore why soliciting diverse viewpoints and perspectives encourages growth and innovation. You will have an opportunity to examine ways to incorporate multiple viewpoints into your leadership practices.
- Making Alumnae Chapters Thrive (Friday only)
Each alumnae chapter is unique and needs resources to develop a strong chapter experience. By discovering the purpose of the alumnae chapter experience, participants will be given the opportunity to apply tactical solutions to help their chapter thrive.
- Flipping the Script on Chapter Success (Friday only; recommended for advisors or advisory board members)
As an advisor, you want to see your chapter succeed. To do that, we often default to creating a list of problems to be solved, which can lead to a problem-focused mentality for you and your collegians. Join us in this session to flip the script and learn how to use what is already working to further chapter success!
- Have Some Heart: Leading with Empathy (Friday only)
As a leader in college, Tina was often too focused on checklists, emails, meeting agendas and attendance. She often forgot that each of the students she was leading was a person first. To empathize, to understand and share with the feelings of other people is to lead effectively. Bringing the heart back to leadership, as cheesy as that may sound, may just be the key to your success.
Awards Dinner (Thursday)
- The Awards Dinner is a celebration of our collegiate and alumnae chapters’ accomplishments over the past biennium. Come prepared to hear about the phenomenal accomplishments of our members and cheer on our award winners!

CLC Diamond Jubilee Anniversary Breakfast (Friday)
Our Collegiate Leadership Consultant Program celebrates 75 years in 2018! Join us for breakfast to celebrate the history of this program and all it has done for our Gamma Phi Beta sisterhood.
Keynote Speaker (Friday)
Better Friends, Better Sisters, Better Women
Joining a sorority changes our lives. We use terms like “sisterhood” and “values” to describe what sorority brings to and teaches us. But, sorority changes us in one universal way: friendship. Before sorority, Tina was unaware of the power of true, authentic friendship with other women – finding female friends was never a priority. She soon learned, at its core, friendship is what sorority is all about. Join us as Tina unpacks the true power of female friendships, and learn to be better friends, better sisters and better women.
Tina VanSteenbergen has been serving college students as a professional speaker for the past three years. When on stage her audiences are captivated by her quick wit, addictive charisma and prowess at hitting salient take home points through an authentic storytelling delivery. Tina speaks to audiences around North America about how to bring the heart back to their leadership styles, and the voices back to women in their organizations and relationships. On a personal note, Tina went to Hamline University for her undergrad and then attended Illinois State University to obtain her master's. She is also a proud Minnesotan who will happily pour on her accent when asked. Tina currently lives in Brooklyn, New York with her extremely long last name and her obnoxiously adorable puppy, Sherri.
Confirmed Conventioneers Dinner (Friday evening)
- This is the event where ΓΦΒs have fun and celebrate our sisterhood! Plan to wear the hat you received at registration in addition to your Gamma Phi Beta gear and/or western wear.
- Before Friday evening, stop by the Hat Decorating Booth in the Landmark Circle sponsored by the Arlington Alumnae Chapter, Dallas Alumnae Chapter and Greater Fort Worth Alumnae Chapter and purchase one pink carnation for each Convention you have attended, along with any other hat decorations you need to adorn your hat. You will also have the opportunity to pay to have your entire hat decorated by the alumnae chapters if you prefer.
- Those members who have attended five or more Conventions are honored to march in the Confirmed Conventioneers Parade – please cheer them on!
- This years Confirmed Conventioneers will be offsite at Eddie Deen’s Ranch at Downtown Dallas. Please meet in the driveway outside the Landmark Circle between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. to take a shuttle to the venue. Return shuttles will run continuously until 10 p.m. when we will have the final mass departure from the venue.
- Seating is open and is first-come, first-served. Reserved seating will be provided for those who indicate they require a seat during registration. The venue does not have seating for everyone, so please prepare to mix and mingle with your sisters.
- If you are a parade participant and want to reach out to other participants marching in your same year (5 year, 10 year, etc.), please contact Page Adams after May 30 and she will be happy to provide you with a list.
Memorial and Ritual (Saturday afternoon)
- This is an amazing opportunity to reaffirm your commitment to Gamma Phi Beta and to cherish our heritage.
- Please make sure to wear white ritual attire (solid white/off white dress, skirt/blouse or pantsuit and your badge; dresses should have a tasteful neckline and hem, no midriffs or strapless tops; and neutral shoes).
- No jewelry is permitted except badges and wedding rings.
Pink Carnation Banquet (Saturday evening)
- A special night! This is a time to dress up, enjoy a wonderful meal and spend a lovely evening celebrating Gamma Phi Beta with your sisters.
- This evening we will honor our outgoing International Council members and install our newly-elected International Council members for the next two-year term.
- Seating will be pre-assigned. Make sure to stop by to select a seat for the Pink Carnation Banquet in the Landmark Circle. All seats must be selected by Friday at 6:30 p.m. or you will be assigned a seat.
- During registration you will be given the opportunity to sign up for a departure shuttle time from the hotel to either DFW or Love Field airports. Shuttles will run every half hour from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you do not know your flight time when you register, please make sure to log back in to your registration page by June 7. Limited shuttle time slots will also be made available at the Help Desk for any last-minute bookings.
- Reconfirm your airport bus departure time that you booked at registration. You will receive a departure notice in your registration packet detailing your assigned departure time. In addition, lists will be posted at the Convention Help Desk. Any travel plans outside of these shuttle times will be at your own expense.
- Meet at your assigned time. Buses will leave promptly to ensure everyone gets to the airport in time for her flight.
- Say goodbye to new friends and bring home some great ideas and inspiration.
