Renowned leader Steve Jobs led Apple to success with his mantra of “think different.” A mantra is a word or a string of words repeated over and over again. This repetition allows for increased concentration and focus. Unlike a mission statement, which you share with others or create as a group, a mantra is an internal reminder to oneself about who you are or who you want to be. Mantras work best with repetition. Once you’ve decided on a mantra consider writing it down or keeping it somewhere you can see it daily. You might write it on a sticky note, place it in your planner or even make it your laptop or phone background. Like any tool, a mantra is only as useful as you make it.
