Leadership Development

Gamma Phi Beta strives to develop confidence and teach leadership skills to our members. Chapters are led by an executive council of women who organize and manage the overall operation of the chapter including the financial, social and recruitment needs. An extended executive council as well as committees and task forces compliment the work of the executive council, giving any member interested in developing leadership skills the opportunity to do so in a safe and nurturing environment. Much of work done by our members requires working not just with other members of the chapter, but also with University and College officials, local community groups and press, as well the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority International Headquarter, alumnae volunteers and the National Panhellenic Council. The Sorority provides training for chapter officers and for our alumnae volunteer advisors. Not only does our Sorority offer many leadership opportunities, but many members have transferred their volunteer skills into jobs and careers. A portion of the Sorority’s Leadership Development programs are funded by the Gamma Phi Beta Foundation . Some of the opportunities for leadership are:

Collegiate Leadership Consultants

Gamma Phi Beta hires recent graduates to serve as Collegiate Leadership Consultants (CLCs) to visit collegiate chapters on an annual basis. These women are trained by International Officers and International Headquarters staff to assist chapters with specific needs, including membership recruitment and programming.

Convention

Gamma Phi Beta holds a Convention every other year on even numbered years. The mission of the Convention is to elect officers, receive reports, conduct Sorority business and provide speakers and workshops that enhance the personal development of all attendees. Each collegiate chapter sends at least one representative to Convention.

Leadership Development Institute (LDI)

Held in off-Convention years, Gamma Phi Beta’s Leadership Development Institute aims to provide International Officers with leadership and officer training. Additionally, it affords alumnae the opportunity for insight into the overall vision, mission and goals of Gamma Phi Beta.

Regional Leadership Conferences

Held in off Convention years, Gamma Phi Beta’s Regional Leadership Conferences aim to provide chapter members and officers with the training they need to be effective leaders in their chapters. This is also an opportunity for alumnae volunteers to be trained as advisors and to practice their leadership skills as they deliver training and seminars to groups of chapter members. The Chapter Advisor Management Program (C.A.M.P.) provides resources and training for chapter advisors and is funded by the Gamma Phi Beta Foundation.

Alumnae Involvement

Involvement as alumnae offers women the opportunity to benefit from programming and social activities throughout their lifetime. Alumnae chapters can use PACEletters similar to the materials provided for collegiate chapters to implement exciting and relevant programming. The opportunities to network are endless and our SisterLink program is a perfect example. SisterLink connects Gamma Phi Betas in the same career field, to an instant friend when relocating, or a mentor in times of need. Alumnae also benefit from being advisors to and providing guidance for collegiate chapters. Finally, International Gamma Phi Beta enlists the skills of hundreds of alumnae volunteers. Training is offered for volunteers to ensure personal growth and success.
