Helen Dodge, a Founder of Gamma Phi Beta and the first president of Alpha Chapter, was also the first member to become an alumna of Gamma Phi Beta. However, she had no choice of alumnae organizations to affiliate as none existed at the time.
As additional Greek-letter chapters were added to the sisterhood, women became aware of the bonds of Gamma Phi Beta that existed outside their schools and areas. Women were members first and foremost - for life. At Convention 1892, the concept of alumnae chapters was approved, and the first alumnae chapter, Chicago Alumnae Chapter, was installed.
All of our alumnae chapters offer friendship, career contacts, a support network, leadership training, philanthropic projects and continuing sisterhood. Will our newest Gamma Phi Beta alumnae chapter be coming soon to your city? If you live in an area without an alumnae chapter, you can help establish one!
