Gamma Phi Beta employs recent college graduates to serve as collegiate leadership consultants (CLCs) to visit collegiate chapters on an annual basis. During their chapter visits they present leadership and officer training, workshops, guide chapters in self-assessment, facilitate goal setting, assist with international and local programming, provide support for recruitment preparation and processes and educate the local chapter about the international organization. Collegiate leadership consultants also develop and present programming to educate women, supplementing college curriculum with leadership training. In this way, visiting CLCs help to prepare Sorority members for careers following graduation.
These outstanding women will travel throughout the United States and Canada visiting Gamma Phi Beta’s 118 chapters on college and university campuses. They started visiting the collegiate chapters in August and will travel through April 2008. Each chapter visit is approximately five days in length and can include as many as 20 meetings for leadership training, assessment and program development.
In the fall of 2003, Dr. Ruth Andrea Seeler, M.D. (Vermont) generously established the first named collegiate leadership consultant endowment with a cash gift and pledge of $250,000. Each year, the consultants traveling primarily to those chapters in the Northeast (region 1) is designated as the Dr. Ruth A. Seeler, M.D. consultants.
Traveling as a CLC is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! Benefits of serving as a consultant include: traveling to different parts of the United States and Canada; developing career contacts; providing leadership development, chapter programming, membership recruitment and officer training; representing an international organization and gaining valuable leadership, management, and communication skills.
