Hazing Prevention

hazing.png

There is no place for hazing in Gamma Phi Beta. As an organization that promotes respect, self-worth and dignity among our members, we are committed to the prevention of hazing through comprehensive education on the topic. Any form of hazing, whether physical, mental or emotional, is a clear violation of our mission and purpose and is taken very seriously.

The Sorority provides educational anti-hazing sessions through a variety of workshops and activities in our new member and member programming that encourage a healthy, safe and productive Sorority experience.
  • Gamma Phi Beta is a primary sponsor of HazingPrevention.org, a national organization dedicated to empowering people to prevent hazing in college and university student groups. The website offers educational programming, webinars and a monthly hazing awareness newsletter that anyone can sign up to receive.
  • We are a founding sponsor of an anti-hazing hotline that any individual can use to anonymously report suspected hazing incidents (1-888-NOT-HAZE).
  • Gamma Phi Beta is a sponsor of the RESPONSE ABILITY Project and supports its mission is to empower the "Every|Day Hero" in all of us. The primary topic of education used to accomplish the mission is bystander behavior and how students can develop understanding, skills and positive group behavior to be more than a bystander and end hazing.
  • The Sorority promotes participation among our collegiate chapters in the annual National Hazing Prevention Week each September and supplies anti-hazing resources for participation. During this national awareness week, the Sorority simultaneously hosts our anti-hazing social media campaign, "No Hazing Under the Crescent Moon" to address the seriousness of hazing and provide anti-hazing education and resources. Receiving national recognition, this viral campaign has enabled our organization's anti-hazing messages to reach well beyond our own membership, educating Greeks and non-Greeks alike.
