GAMMA PHI BETAS SELL $15 MILLION IN WAR BONDS
With the focus of the world on the effects of World War II, Gamma Phi
Betas were compelled to take action and support the troops. Members sold
more than $15 million in war bonds, resulting in the purchase of six
hospital planes, two war hospitals, one war hospital ship and medical
care for countless wounded soldiers.
Pictured are members with
one of the airplanes purchased, a Northrop 'Black Widow.' Inez Northrop
(Southern California, 1944) who is pictured in this photo was the
daughter of Jack Northrop, the owner and designer of these war
airplanes.
